Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach stretches for about three miles along the eastern shore of Block Island, from Old Harbor north to Sachem Pond. It's the island's main beach and the most accessible from the ferry landing — a short walk or bike ride from town.

The water is calm by New England standards, the sand is clean, and the beach is wide enough that it rarely feels crowded even in peak summer. There are no high-rises or boardwalks here, just open beach and the Atlantic.

The southern end near Old Harbor has the most foot traffic and is closest to food and restrooms. The further north you walk, the quieter it gets. Fred Benson Town Beach, roughly in the middle, has lifeguards in summer, restrooms, and a small concession stand.
